Rio Tour is a high performance road cycling competition consisting of 808,5 km of mountains and coastlines. It is an international race which brings the best cycling teams together and is the greatest competition of its kind in South America. The Tour’s structure is of nearly six hundred support, security and management professionals who will, during five days, cover the five towns hosting each one of the race stages: Angra dos Reis, Três Rios, Friburgo, Cabo Frio and Rio de Janeiro. It will be dry winter time.

The tour covers the city of Rio de Janeiro and the Rio de Janeiro state countryside: from mountain trails to beaches, from natural conservation areas to historic cities, the living culture seen in the populations’ lifestyle. Throughout the Rio Tour, leisure activities will be offered for the audience to enjoy the city during race breaks.

Enjoy an audio-visual evening with Scott Nydam, former pro cyclist with the BMC Racing Team. Scott spent part of 2010 living and training with the riders of Team Rwanda as they prepared for the African Continental Championships and the nine-day Tour of Rwanda. Follow Scott and Team Rwanda as they lift not only each other's spirits, but those of a nation leaving behind the shadow of the genocide. Scott's story is the cover feature in the latest issue of Bike Monkey magazine, available at the presentation.

50 mile ride

2011 will mark the 5th Annual “Rwanda Ride” in SoCal

What began as a 50th birthday ride in 2006, has evolved into one of the most anticipated and talked-about rides in Southern California.

What makes this ride different?

First of all, our event is a “ride”, not a race. Riders participate for a lot of reasons: some for the challenge of riding further on a mountain bike than ever before, some because they love the Project Rwanda cause, some for the fun of sharing the day with tons of their mtb buddies. Second, our event is a fundraiser. We’ve raised over $150,000 for Project Rwanda in our first four events. These funds are used to further the economic development of Rwanda through initiatives based on the bicycle as a tool and symbol of hope. And we’re just getting started.
